ABOUT

In 1983, IGC introduced a breathable synthetic fabric to act as a weed barrier material. Our Geoscape product was one of the first landscape fabrics in the horticultural industry. In the initial marketing, it became very clear, customers wanted a variety of sizes. This led to the purchase of an 81-inch slitting and rewinding machine, which was put into service in May of 1983. As the Geoscape Landscape line grew, more capacity was necessary. Today, IGC has four center wound slitters with a slitting capacity of up to 210 inches. A thermal laminating line was installed in 2003, with a finished width of 48".

Since the introduction of the Landscape Fabric product, IGC has grown to include products that are used in the construction, packaging, and composite industries.

IGC is located in Charlotte, NC, ideally located for excellent transit times to the eastern United States.

We offer a wide range of fabrics, from need-punch polypropylenes to spunbond polyesters and nylons. If you are developing a new product or want to improve on an existing one we can help with services such as flexographic printing. You can provide the fabric or we can source for you and provide complete production from master roll to finished product.

PRODUCTS

Wovens & Nonwoven Printing

One of the unique services we offer is the printing of logos and product images of nonwovens which can enhance your brand. Whether your product is exposed for a week or 6 months on a job site, our printing will create a visual display for the marketing of your products.

Needle-Punch Polypropylene and Polyester

Needle-punch nonwoven fabrics are formed from staple cut fibers that are formed by a process that needle the fibers in a stable and durable network such that the fibers retain their relative position. Needle-punch fabrics are known for their strength in the machine direction, and moldability in thermo applications.

Composites of Spunbond and Needle-Punch Fabrics

Composite nonwovens are formed by heat or adhesive laminating of various layers of needle-punch or spunbond materials. Sometimes films are introduced in the lamination to act as a moisture barrier. Depending on the composite structure they can offer strength, yet be lightweight, replacing traditional materials for a variety of applications.

Spunbond Nylon, Polypropylene, and Polyester Fabrics

Spunbond nonwovens are known for their dimensional stability in both the machine and cross direction. Spunbonds are formed by filaments which have been extruded, drawn, and then laid on a continuous belt. Spunbonds are used as scrims and backings in extrusion applications. Like needle-punch nonwovens, they offer excellent filtration properties.

Products

IGC has available to its customers a wide selection of nonwoven products which include needle-punch polypropylene and polyester fabrics, spunbond nonwoven polypropylene, polyester, and nylon materials. Incorporating these fabrics through our laminating process we are able to construct a variety of fabric composites.

In addition to our nonwoven fabrics, we also offer the converting of kraft paper.
